Distribute Access 97 MDB with Delphi 3.0

Does anybody have a list of DAO files that needs to be distributed with a
Delphi 3.0 & Access 97 application.

Thanks

Rajan

You need to distribute the following files:

DAO350.dll
MSJet35.dll
MSRepl35.dll
MSJtEr35.dll
MSJInt35.dll
VBAJET32.dll
VBAR332.dll
VBAEN32.olb
MSVCRT40.dll
MSVCRT.dll
MSVCIRT.dll

Fredrik,

You should note that distributing these files is illegal unless
you either own a MS development platform that allows redistributing
them, or have purchased a distribution license from MS.

That is, you need to own the pro version of either VB
or VC++.  Or alternatively the Office Developer's Kit
(an upgrade on MS Office - not recommended IMO).
But once you've done that, distributing Jet is royalty free.

Jet installation involves more than just copying DLLs:
its COM servers need to be registered.  For this reason
most people use a tool like InstallShield or WISE to
install the engine.

If you want to get your hands dirty and do it all yourself
then you can find a detailed discussion about Jet/DAO
installation requirements at:
  http://www.opus.ch/Products/DirectAccess/Documentation/Default.htm
(These are the docs for Opus DirectAccess, one of the
third-party tools for programming Jet 3.5 from D3.  One
of its sample programs is a DAO/Jet installer AFAIK.)

The authoritative reference for Jet is
  http://mspress.microsoft.com/prod/books/459.htm

You may also encounter Jet 3.51 (released last year
and updated last month) which enhances the repair/
compact facilities, has improved error reporting and
updated helpfiles.
  ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/MSLFILES/JET35UPD.EXE
  ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/MSLFILES/JETERR35.EXE
The update provides new versions of MSJET35.DLL
and MSREPL35.DLL.  Most people however seem to
have stuck with 3.50 which has been remarkably solid.
