Need : way/code to connect to the internet, detect connection code , and disconnection code.

Hi, i was wondering if there is a way to connect the i-net [preferably
something automatic, so the
 user will not be prompet to press anything], a code to detect connection
and a disconnection
 code. Help will be appriciated,
