I have no idea what is causing this, but at least I can translate it for
others.

First of all, I apologize for composing this message in Spanish, but the
text is very complex for my knowledge of English, and I wish for it to be
clearly understood (even if only by those of you who can read Spanish).
If anyone wishes to answer me, please do so in this newsgroup or by email to
nemes...@redestb.es. Of course, you may reply in English.
I have developed an application, relatively large, with Delphi 3. The
database uses the Paradox driver. The application resides on an NT 4.0
server, on a folder shared to the rest of the network. From the other
workstations on the network (Win NT Workstation) y execute the application,
creating a local network unit. The BDE installed on all machines is the
latest one, 4.51. The Windows NT workstations are up to Service Pack 2
(there are no more service packs for the Spanish language version).
The problem:
The application, when executed from any of the workstations on the network,
except the server (where the application actually resides) y extraordinarily
slow to access the data, it takes more than 40 seconds to launch, the access
to any of the tables is very slow and the SQL queries take forever.
To further confuse the issue, here is more information.
On the network there is a Windows 95 box, and from this one the application
executes at a normal speed, only slightly slower than the server (and barely
noticeably). If I install the application in one of the NT Workstation
machines and I share it to the rest of the network (removing the one on the
server), the execution speed is normal.
Well, I hope someone can think of something, as i have I tried everything I
can think of and I cannot find a reason for this, nor any further means of
troubleshooting the problem.
Regards from Spain, FRAN
