Is there any way I can use an Access database MDB without setting a DSN? I need
to query the database as well.

Any suggestions? And examples for MDB files?

You can use DAO (this is what the BDE MSACCESS driver is using) or ADO (this
is what ADOExpress is using).
If you don't want to use DAO/BDE or you don't own ADOExpress you can use a
third-party DAO or ADO BDE replacement (see
http://www.kylecordes.com/bag/index.html, I recommend Diamond ADO,
http://www.islamov.com/diamondado/index.html).
