I would like to learn Pascal and do not know which version I should learn
from. I own a 386 with Dos 6.0 and Windows 3.1 (if this information is of
any help). It would also be helpful if someone could recomend a book of
some type that I could learn from.
 Thanks!

FWIW, I would recommend buying/using/learning Turbo Pascal 7.0, or
similar, with a view to moving up to Delphi, as the fancy takes you!  As
for a book, well "Turbo Pascal 5.0/6.0 for Engineers" by B.D.Hahn,
ISBN 1-85554-081-9, covers a lot of ground, which is relevant to many
regimes, if you are willing to put in the effort.  Good luck, but most
of all, enjoy your programming!

You can try these Pascal compiler

1.) TMTPascal - http://www.tmt.com  (free)
     one word - good.

2.) GNUPascal - address unknown  (free)
I download it but didn't make use of it, simply the syntax is alien to
me.

3.) Turbo Pascal v7.0 - http://www.borland.com
     excellent.

As for books, i don't have any to recommend but buy something comprehensive
and thick. Save you bucks as advanced topics are not found in 'thin' books.
