If I drop the frame, it will drop the code, as well as the controls
involved. the frame was being built for eventual use in an existing app.
I've switched approaches now, and will launch a separate app instead. I will
try some more things to see whether I can discover what causes the
misbehavior, but only up to a point, as the project was a small one, and the
other version is already complete.
