Using the Installshield for Delphi 4 the BDE 5.01 is supposedly setup (no
errors). After installation you cannot get into out app or into the BDE
Administrator (it just hangs).

We have tried reinstalls and have even deleted the borland directory
manually and removed registry entries however to no avail. The machine was
Windows 98 first edition, we tried installing the second edition but it made
no difference. We also tried installing the upgrade to 5.10 which made no
difference.

The same install worked on a windows 95 machine at the same site.
Does anyone have any suggestions? We have installed on about 30 other
windows 98 machines with no problems. We also looked for previous
installation of Corel products, borland files etc and found none.

This is a bug on W98 with the video drivers.  Change to color depth of
the display to something more than 16 colors and BDE should run again.
