'Disappearing' de{*word*81}

Hi there,

I'm running BCB4 professional under windows 95.

Whenever I try to debug my app, the app and BCB just hangs - the IDE is
not displayed and the only way out is CTRL-ALT-DEL, where windows
reports that neither my app nor BCB is responding.

I've tried reinstalling BCB - this works for a while, but not for long.

I've created a test app, with one line of code (ShowMessage("L");)
andsetting a breakpoint on this will cause both the app and BCB to hang.

Has anyone come across this?

Could you elaborate on this a bit? What are the signs of deterioration?

The only sign is that the de{*word*81} doesn't appear - everything just hangs.

As I've got so fed up with this, I've decided to format my C: drive and
reinstall Windows, to see if this makes any difference...

It should - I would have suggested this as the last escape route.

Hi Stefan,

Many people regard reinstalling Windows as a regular form of maintenance.

So do I. Fortunately with NT4 it is required not as often as with Windows
PlayStation.

Reinstalling Windows DID make a difference! I have no idea what was
wrong, but I've backed up the registry as a precaution - if things go
awry again, I'll try restoring it to see if that makes any difference.
