They're bringing out a new version. Isn't that enough for you to want to
stay? Heck I purchased version 6 after I found out it was the end of life
for the product. I would be sad to leave and then discover that Borland
were continuing with their BCB product (which they are now).

Re:Re: Borland let us DOWN

If they really do come out with a C++ Builder 9..... we're staying for sure.
( Have too much invested not to ).
This is great news. It appears that Borland has at least a few brain cells
left <g>.

Yes, I was active in the BCB/Delphi WebServices section until about Nov
2002. That's when the teams were reorganized and we embarked on a different
path involving the use of JBuilder's Primetime for a C++ IDE. The initial
research consumed a lot of time [specially integration of tools and have a
designer run by proxy] making it impossible to monitor the newsgroups.
If things go according to what I've been told, I should be able to focus on
cppbuilder again!

Bruneau.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to consider adding '(Borland)' to the
end of your name - then everyone can hang on every word you say :-)

But that will also make it easier for the internal police to track
unauthorized communication :)
Joke aside, it's exactly what I want to avoid. I do work here and may have a
different perspective on some of the issues discussed. However, I would not
want my posts to be overvalued (or penalized:) for being a Borlander.

Fair point.
But word spreads quickly, don't be surprised if your posts are quoted left,
right and centre.

Its fairly common practice...
Makes it much easier to identify who's from Borland and who's not.

A simple rule (sender address contains Borland) in my newsreader already
colored all your posts in a bright blue. :)

I understand this, but...
The regulars here can tell who you are anyway,
others have a rule in their newsreader that
identifies you as a Borlander (I do). And these
are the ones that will most likely do what you
try to avoid. So where is the point?

Thanks for the comment. I understand that point of view. However, the
'(Borland)' suffix brings on other things as well. I'm a developer that
would rather stay clear of the issues that are out of my control; Whenever
it's relevant - like when a bug is found in code I wrote :(, or code that
I'm familiar with :) - I'm more than happy to identify who am I.
You see, I worked in Borland C++ Tech. Support from 1989 to 1993. When I
moved to R&D in 93 and did not have '(Borland)' after my name anymore,
online interaction became more focused and I've enjoyed that.
It's not my intention to deceive or mislead anyone here. Most of my posts
somewhere do let out that I work on the product.

Bruneau.

I'm sure the filters are actually more specific... Next time I'm in my

You're probably right and it probably does not matter anymore. It's an old
thing that goes back to1993, back when I moved from Support to R&D and
started enjoying having more focused online interactions. I'll give the
suffix some thought...

Re:Re: Borland let us DOWN

Hello Pete,
My first name is 'Jean-Marie' but I switched to my middle name when I
arrived in the US as Jean-Marie is often thought of as a woman's name here.
I remember my first day in class... the teacher kept repeating "Jean
Mary.... is she here? Jean Mary?...is she here?". And I was totally
oblivious to the fact that she was calling out my name.
My email is setup with 'Jean-Marie' because I use it to communicate with
people who know me by my first name. Maybe there's a way for me to configure
the account so that it would be 'Bruneau' for US-based communication and
'Jean-Marie' for others????

Bruneau.
