Diamondback

Would I be barking up the wrong tree by assuming that Borland would release
Delphi 9 and C++ Builder 9 as a single combined IDE and that this is what
Diamondback will be ?
Afterall, C++ Builder and Delphi have always been the two sides of the same
coin, with C++ Builder being more akin to the proposal above as it already
hosts both Pascal and C++ code in one environment albeit in a manner that
has been intentionally restricted up until now !!!

Well I guess on Tuesday 13th September we will all know for sure, not just
those lucky chaps with a signed NDA under their hats ;o)

You'd be barking up the wrong tree alright. If you read the Delphi non-tech
group, you'll see that Diamondback will be Delphi & C#. Read Danny Thorpe's
posts. He back tracks a bit, but it's obvious. (There's a *lot* of BS over
there (from both sides), but you can occasionally get a clue on what is going on
inside Borland.)
I know that others have expressed hope that maybe we'll hear something at
Borcon. I hope so too, BUT unfortunately I think the reality is that, *at
best*, we'll get some non-committal discussion on the future of Borlands's C++
plans which will be intended to generate some faint hope to keep people{*word*154}
on.
Borlands continued contempt of their C++ community is astonishing. However the
alternatives at this point are not quite clear enough for me - yet.

First thing I thought of when I heard "Diamondback" as the name of the
next Delphi was: hey, isn't that a snake?
Then it struck me that the last movies I saw with a snake-naming theme
was Tarantino's "Kill Bill" series, the assassins named after snakes.
Kill Bill?
*laugh*
Are they poking some fun here? :)

Kill Bill?
As long as it's not Kill Delphi....

the would be if it was some other snake. I don't think anyone in the
Deadly Viper Assasination Squad were diamondbacks.

Yes, that "theory" was posted on non-technical weeks ago, so OODesign is
very late.
Non-technical rules! ;-)

OODesign maybe late, but the design is superior, and is much more
maintainable, making it more efficient in the long run <g>

Yeah, but their theory is more extensible, maintainable, and re-useable

So is a Sidewinder, which was the codename for C#Builder. C#Builder was
released in May 2003.
Filming of Kill Bill started June 2002 and ended March 2003 (though it
wasn't released til October 2003). Make from that what you will <g>
