C++Builder 2007 unusable for me2008-06-12 11:53:52 AM cppbuilder94 I decided to give C++ Builder 2007 a try (I have been using C++Builder 6 for many years, and earlier versions before that) on my Windows XP SP2 laptop. I started simple, created a new sdi project, added a couple of controls, compiled, and tried to execute. Instant segfault. So then I tried single-stepping into the code to find the problem. It seems to be happening before any code I wrote executes - in the VCL startup code. (Null pointer reference in ADVAPI32.dll.) I went back to Builder 6 and duplicated the test there. Instant success. At this point, I am at a loss, and my 30-day clock is ticking away. I was looking forward to moving up to the latest tool, but I am certainly not going to spend several hundred dollars on a product that (for whatever reason) can't even execute code on my system? I see many reports here of people having great success with C++B 2007, so I assume there is some incompatibility with something on my system, but nevertheless, I haven't been able to figure out what is wrong and how to fix it. Has anyone heard of this problem? Thanks, Dan. |
