De{*word*81} Kernel DLL Missing Error

Hi all,

I just installec C++Builder 5.0 and now I can not use the IDE de{*word*81}.

I am running Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5.

I have tried to run a new project and a project converted from C++Builder
V1.0 and both give me the error:

    "De{*word*81} kernel BORDBK51.DLL is missing or not registered"

The IDE will not run the project.  Seems that I can compile and link OK
because I can run the application outside of C++Builder.

I have:
    -    Uninstalled C++Builder 1.0 and 5.0, rebooted then reinstalled 5.0 -
same error.

    -    Uninstalled C++Builder 5.0, rebooted in VGA mode then reinstalled
5.0 - same error

    -    Uninstalled C++Builder 5.0, rebooted in VGA mode loged in as
administrator then reinstalled 5.0 - same error

    -    Uninstalled C++Builder 5.0, rebooted then reinstalled 5.0 then:
        -    Coppied BORDBK51.DLL to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM - same error
        -    Coppied BORDBK51.DLL to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 - same error
        -    Set the enviroment path to C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON
FILES\BORLAND SHARED\DE{*word*81} - same error

I cant think of anything else to try.

I could sure use some help.

Thanks in advance

Victor

When I did my install, this file failed to register too. I found that
it was copied into C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared, as
you mentioned in the stuff I snipped. I talked to the install help
desk. They had me try (in a command line window) go to the above
directory:

type : tregsvr bordbk51.dll

which worked. I'm using Win95, maybe something similar works for NT?

Good luck -- it's worth it in the end!

Bob
