C++ Builder and AMD 64 Bit2005-01-12 02:16:59 AM cppbuilder8 Hi All, Most of my development is in C++ builder 6. Has anyone had any problem running it and the exe generated on a amd 64 bit cpu? I will be getting a new laptop and I am looking at the acer ferrari 3400 which has an amd 64 3000+ chip. I am just worried cause I think I remember reading about people having trouble compiling there projects when using an amd 64 bit cpu. Has anyone had problem with this combination? Thanks, Marc |

Re:C++ Builder and AMD 64 Bit
Marc,
Most customers who ran into the freezing problem early on (when using BCB6 with the Athlon64 and Opteron64) eventually discovered that it was due to the "errata 109" issue on the CPU side. I believe there is a BIOS update which addresses that (what I don't know is if the update is already incorporated into the newer chips). That having been said, BCB6 is not officially supported on the 64-bit AMDs. -- YH -- |

Re:C++ Builder and AMD 64 Bit
Hi,
Recently, I become a happy user of Processor Athlon64 3200+, motherboard MSI K8N Neo. BCB6 doesn't complain about that, either I read many articles about some problems that may occure. The problems were solvable as far as I can remember. Best regards, Vladimir Stefanovic "Marc Ouellette" < XXXX@XXXXX.COM >wrote in message QuoteHi All, {smallsort} |

Operating system is W2000 (windows updates installed last week). System compiles projects (either by choosing build or make from ide) (I have tried several old ones) ok but BCB freezes when I press run-button. If I start the produced executable from windows using command prompt and use Run|Attach to Process debugging works ok. It would we nice to use IDE all the time ... . Next I am going to try using Kylix (Ubuntu 64 bit linux installed, will try it first). All help really welcome, this machine is my new home computer and it would be nice to use BCB home too. seismo malm |
