Is it possible to convert a bmp to a gif and/or jpg file directly from
within BCB5 Pro?

There should be a TJPEGImage class that will let you read/write jpeg files.
Try including <vcl\jpeg.hpp> and dynamically creating a TJPEGImage object.
It descends from Graphics::TGraphic, so you should be able to assign to/from
any other Graphics::TGraphic descendant - TBitmap, etc.
