Hello,
I am running the chat software in the examples folder of borland c++ builder. I am able to chat with people on the local network. How do i chat with people over the internet? please assist...i have no idea.
 

Hi:
You should be able to do it. But you must remember to solve (among others
things that probably I'm missing):
- Enable the ports in the router (with forwarding to the final host).
- How to solve the IP. If your connection uses a dynamic IP, first you have
to obtain it.

The problem is, for me to connect to an internet chat group say the ones on Yahoo groups, i need to authenticate myself. I need to provide a username and a password in addition to port and IP. I am still at a loss here.

Well, in such case you need to know the protocol, i suggest to use google
(or yahoo) to search if that protocol is public.
