A work collegue is having problems with his PC locking up when editing using
BCB6 (no operating system warning is given and the only way out is to pull
the plug) . It happens once a week on average, but today has happened three
times. He hasn't had a similar problem with other software on the PC,
although it is BCB6 that is used 99% of the time. He is running Windows 2000
SP1 with no virus software (ZoneAlarm is running).
Has anyone else had similar problems. I myself have the occasion freeze
running BCB6 under XP, whilst editing but it happens only once every six
months.

I have never had it freeze like this and I'm using XP/BCB6.
Are you sure that it isn't code insight compiling in the background?
Check the code insight settings and turn all OFF except Tooltio expression
evaluation and it may help.

All code insight settings are off. The lock-up effects the whole system not
just BCB.

It could be some dodgy memory etc. you might want to get some PC test
software for it and run it overnight.
If the memory is dodgy, then BCB forcing windows to use it may trigger it to
fail - but that's only one of several possibilities.
