About novaPDF SDK
novaPDF SDK is a PDF software development kit that software developers can
use to add the ability to create PDF files in their own applications.
novaPDF SDK includes:
- a COM interface for customizing novaPDF options. Any option that can be
configured in the novaPDF Printing Preferences dialog, can be also
configured with the COM interface, including profiles management.
- a silent installer for novaPDF. This silent installer can be integrated in
the installation program that uses novaPDF SDK and this way novaPDF will be
installed with customized options, without any user interaction.
- novaPDF SDK documentation.
- several code samples on how to use novaPDF SDK (samples available in C#,
C++, Delphi, Ms Access, Visual Basic, VBNet).
novaPDF SDK can be integrated both in server and desktop/client
applications. For server applications there is no need to install novaPDF
Printer on the client machines.
Being distributed as a COM object, novaPDF SDK can be integrated in any
Windows application, no matter the language it is programmed in (C/C++/C#,
Visual C, Delphi, .Net, ASP, Visual Basic ...). It requires about 20Mb of
free space and works on Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server.
By integrating novaPDF SDK in your application, you will be able to use all
the features of a professional PDF printer driver: customizable resolution,
quality settings, PDF security, PDF links, PDF bookmarks, private/public
profiles, embed fonts, compression, send PDF via email, multi-language
support (currently over 12 languages supported), shared network printer and
much more.
---
Availability and Pricing
novaPDF SDK is fully functional with no time limitation. A notice is printed
on each PDF page mentioning the novaPDF. The notice will be removed when
developers buy an application license and use the registration key with
novaPDF SDK or if they print from computers where novaPDF is registered. If
novaPDF is registered on every computer that uses the software it was
integrated in, there is no need to buy the license for novaPDF SDK.

Claudiu,

Any chance of getting the bug-fixes for 3.x Pro without paying for an
upgrade to 4.0?

Re:ANN: novaPDF SDK v 4.0 available - add PDF creation ability to your application

Hi,
Well the bug fixes were done to correct the behavior of the new features in
version 4, not to correct something in version 3.x.
If you have encountered a bug in version 3.x please email us at support [at]
novapdf.com. We'll investigate it and offer a solution if we reproduce it.

Claudia,
I had the same concern as Q Correl when I read your announcement.
May I suggest that the only time bug fixes have any relevance to an
update announcement is when they fix bugs to which the users are
vulnerable. Bugs created and fixed during the development of the
update are of no relevance to the user, and are best not mentioned at
all in the announcement. IMO.
I should confirm, just in case there is any doubt, that I have seen
no evidence at all of any bugs in v 3.3 and the last time I did find a
bug, many months ago, you did indeed fix it very promptly.
Presumably you will continue to support bug fixes in v3 while
considering enhancement requests only for v4 (until v5 etc comes
along).
Regards
Allan Knox

Re:ANN: novaPDF SDK v 4.0 available - add PDF creation ability to your application

Hi Allan,
Thank you for the correction, you are right. I will be more careful on
future announcements.

Actually even if you are using novaPDF SDK 3.3 you are able to call the
novaPDF Printer v 4. The difference is that even if novaPDF Printer v4 has
new features, those will not be configurable through the 3.3 version of the
COM. This way you can get further bug fixes applied without upgrading.
There is one additional step into doing this (using novaPDF SDK 3.3 with
novaPDF Printer 4), as you will have to manually install version 3.3 of the
COM after installing the printer. If you are interested into testing/using
this, you can write to the support team and they'll give more details.

Nope, haven't encountered any problems and I am perfectly happy with
3.3 Pro the way it is. However, I'm not a "power user" of novaPDF so
was just curious if there was any reason I should upgrade.
Thanks!

Glad to hear that. If you're not a power user I don't think you'll need to
upgrade. Main change is that bookmarks are now recognized and placed in the
created PDF file.
Thank you too for using novaPDF.
