BCB4 background IDE processes - how to turn off?

When working in the CB4 IDE the systems periodically starts doing some
background process that is a royal pain.  Is this background
compilation? If so how can I turn it off? It locks me out of using the
editor for anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds.

I know that it is definately CB4 by watching the program resources
growing in the NT4 task manager.

What's going on???

You probably have the new 'tooltip symbol insight' option enabled (it's
enabled
by default).  The IDE is trying to locate declaration information for the
symbol under the mouse pointer.

Look at Tools | Environment Options and select the Code Insight tab.
